No matter what kind of loss, I am sure I can speak for most, it forces one to reflect and reevaluate life.

Loss changed everything for me. Everything as I knew it has changed. It is scary. I did not choose it but I am embarking on a new chapter in my life and doing my best to consciously create the best life for Kenny and I.

I was pleased to read this article, not because a young man lost his mom and has been on an unsettling emotional journey for 20 years, but that a public figure is sharing his experience with loss and what he has learned. People will tune in. He has influence.

Loss is traumatic.

Loss changes everything.

There is a voice inside of me just beginning to have the courage to shout out and encourage society to change our relationship with loss.

I have been walking the path of grief for over a year now and have been intensely curious of what one needs to survive and thrive after loss.

I am not sure as a society we have it figured out.

I know I have hit both internal and external roadblocks on this relentless experience of loss.

Processing our grief takes courage, vulnerability and emotional risk. If we don't the cost can be great. I know this to be true, I have witnessed it with loved ones, coaching clients and most intimately with myself.

Irritability.

Anxiety.

Low grade depression.

Aggression.

Increased stress.

Low self esteem.

Unresolved emotions impacts our health, our relationships and our outlook on the world.

Way to go Harry, speaking out and having the courage to lean in, meet your pain. It is not easy but a courageous long term beneficial choice.
